This blog is about 3 stories.

1. The start-up year for a very different sort of Graduate School of Education. It's a tiny subset of...
2. ...The much larger, national effort to transform teaching and teachers. That is a big subset of...
3. ...A multi-kajillion-dollar effort to improve the ludicrous odds (7% or so) of a poor kid ever getting a college diploma.

Name Game

Hi folks,

I was all set to rename this blog Edu-Puzzles.

Then 2 of my dear colleagues said thumbs down on that name, but somehow (!) much preferred EdPuzzles. No “u.”

Is either good? Both bad? Email me or comment.

…or EdPuzzled (for that ever-so-elusive soupcon of humility in edublogland), or Edupalooza (gotta think that’s been done…but hey–there’s no copyright for titles), or Edazzled (snap fingers and yell ‘Julie Andrews’ to transform into the next new new turnaround model). Heck, don’t care what it’s called; just keep up this awesome, awesome blog. Cheers!

For what’s worth, I recommended Edu-Puzzles based on your column asking for suggestions and I think EdPuzzles is just as good or better.

    I prefer “PuzzlED”

Chan, bonus points for “soupcon.” Julie Andrews has, to my surprise, become big in our household with 2 kids. I’d hoped for someone, I don’t know, a little more hip. In fact on Friday I need to choose b/w watching Match’s Orin-coached high school bball team in playoffs or going with kids to local production of Sound of Music.

My vote is for PuzzlED, not the other one I said.. if it posted.

    My vote would be PuzzlED.

The other two: not my favorite.

My original contribution = still viable.

No matter what, I will continue to read.

I think the “l” in PuzzlED is strangely hard to read. I keep thinking it’s an I.

And though you’re definitely not one, I also keep thinking about the word “putz.”

I’m sure a certain saucy reform enemy could have a field day with the name.

How about a similar concept to PuzzlEd – ReformEd. Your blog seems to aim to inspire others to join the “reform education” movement by raising up those that experiment with “reformed” practices in education and are seeing positive outcomes as a result.
