This blog is about 3 stories.

1. The start-up year for a very different sort of Graduate School of Education. It's a tiny subset of...
2. ...The much larger, national effort to transform teaching and teachers. That is a big subset of...
3. ...A multi-kajillion-dollar effort to improve the ludicrous odds (7% or so) of a poor kid ever getting a college diploma.

Non K-12 related: Who is the best reporter in the world?

Posted: May 18th, 2012 | Author: | | No Comments »

I think it is this man. His name is Michael Totten.

If you are interested in world affairs, you’ll find it is a treat to read him. He’s mostly a self-financed blogger. Which reminds me, I need to send him a donation.

He’s a reporter. He travels to places. He talks to people. He gets amazing access. And he captures it all with a sophisticated eye. He does not simply package up the conventional wisdom with a few original quotes, like many foreign correspondents.

For example, if you read today’s entry, you’ll learn who this woman is.
